Carolyn Weems is a Vice President with the Herald Group and provides strategic communications, media relations counsel and coalition development to assist clients in communicating their positions on issues to elected officials, news media, key stakeholders and consumers.
Prior to joining The Herald Group, Carolyn worked for the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), where she was the primary public affairs counsel for the organization’s research and economic department and served as secondary counsel for commercial/multifamily policy. While at MBA, Carolyn developed and implemented the communications strategy for MBA’s economic analysis, forecasting and research for both the single family and commercial/multifamily markets. She was responsible for the message development, planning and release of highly recognized industry reports, as well as various analyses developed and released through MBA’s independent research institute.
Serving as an MBA spokesperson, Carolyn spoke regularly with national, local and trade media on ever changing issues related to the real estate finance industry. She also served as the press liaison at MBA conferences and facilitated media and speech training with the association’s executives. Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Minor in Business from West Virginia University.
