The Herald Group Bolsters Coalition Building Capabilities; Hires Manager of Outreach

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 11, 2016 – The Herald Group, a full service bipartisan public affairs and issues management firm, today announced the expansion of its coalition building capabilities with the addition of John Bates as outreach manager. John will provide third party and coalition management expertise to the firm’s expanding roster of corporate, industry coalition, association and non-profit clients. In his new role, John will expand and strengthen the firm’s relationships with outside organizations, including think tanks, advocacy groups and issue experts.

“It’s our job to tell our client’s story to all audiences, including stakeholders and outside groups,” said Matt Well, managing partner of The Herald Group. “John’s skill in building and managing diverse coalitions will help us provide even more creative and effective opportunities to advance our client’s advocacy and communications objectives.”

Before joining The Herald Group, John was a legislative and communications director for a Maryland state senator. He oversaw all policy and communication initiatives for the senator and assisted in passing several pieces of legislation dealing with criminal justice reform and protecting children in the state’s social services programs. While working for a Republican legislator in a heavily Democratic state, John understood the need to build bipartisan coalitions and successfully managed outreach to diverse groups from across the political spectrum.

“We are thrilled to have John on our team,” continued Well. “Our firm has seen rapid growth in the last year, and this growth serves as a testament to the unsurpassed results we deliver to our clients.”
