Steven Smith is a Vice President at The Herald Group. He is a Capitol Hill veteran with a decade of strategic communications and brand management experience, serving in six Congressional offices across all four U.S. time zones.

Most recently, he was a senior leadership staffer on the House Republican Conference serving as National Press Secretary. Under Conference Chair Liz Cheney, Steven was responsible for crafting and coordinating messaging strategy for the 200+ members of the House GOP Conference.

Prior to that, Steven served as Communications Director for Congressman French Hill of Arkansas where he guided communications for the launch of the House FinTech Task Force, House Artificial Intelligence Task Force, and House Entrepreneurship Caucus. Before that, Steven served as Communications Director for House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce of California. Steven built and executed messaging and media strategies to move the needle in policy debates for Chairman Royce’s wide portfolio of legislative priorities, with a specific focus on financial services. Steven also served as a Staff Assistant for Speaker of the House John Boehner in his leadership office.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Steven is a proud graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with a degree in Marketing.
