The Herald Group Welcomes Chuck Burgess as EU-based Strategic Advisor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 15, 2025 – Today, The Herald Group announced the appointment of Chuck Burgess as the firm’s EU-based Strategic Advisor. In this new position, Burgess will help THG clients pursue business opportunities and navigate policy and communications challenges on both sides of the Atlantic.

Burgess had deep experience advising senior executives and Boards of Directors on strategic communications, investor relations, media relations, crisis communications, and M&A communications in a broad range of industries, including technology, healthcare, energy, financial services, and manufacturing. In addition to working extensively with U.S.-headquartered multinationals, he has helped European companies favorably engage with American policymakers, media, and investors.

“We’re very excited about how Chuck will help The Herald Group meet the strategic, communications, and public affairs needs of our growing roster of international clients,” said Matt Well, partner and co-founder of The Herald Group. “Chuck brings decades of international experience to The Herald Group and will be a valuable partner to clients who are seeking to successfully navigate today’s highly dynamic public affairs landscape. Our clients will also benefit from his extensive experience advising companies on critical financial and strategic communications issues in both Europe and the U.S.”

“I’ve long admired the team at The Herald Group for its independent, maverick approach to public affairs, and I am looking forward to partnering with them to deliver results for clients,” said Chuck Burgess. “This is a time of vast economic changes—and multinational companies will be best positioned to survive and thrive by actively engaging with media, policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic. I’m eager to leverage my experience, expertise, and extensive US and EU network on behalf of The Herald Group’s clients.”

Burgess previously served as President of Abernathy MacGregor—now H/Advisors Abernathy—one of the world’s leading financial and strategic communications consulting firms. He also served as a board member of AMO, a global partnership of corporate and financial communications consultancies in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Earlier in his career, he worked as an executive at Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart, serving leading financial service clients. Burgess also worked on Capitol Hill in the press office of U.S. Senator John Warner (R-VA). [He graduated with honors from Georgetown University.]
